More Angelenos are moving into PERMANENT housing than ever before. Homelessness has decreased by 10%.
This four-story building features 103 units, ranging from studios to one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments with large windows and closets and unique floor plans.
The project along Lankershim Blvd from Sherman Way to Tuxford St. will bring stormwater capture, landscaped parkways and medians and new trees to our community.
The homes are designed with the needs of veterans in mind, including provisions for the disabled. The project includes community outdoor space and an urban garden.

The first project in the city supported by the Innovation Fund is the Mahalia in our area, at 11604 Vanowen Street in North Hollywood. The project’s nonprofit developer, Daylight Community Development, is using an innovative method of modular construction to reduce costs, shorten the building schedule and get more people housed sooner.
If you have driven northbound on the 170 freeway in North Hollywood, you may have seen the prominent Lars Hawkes sculpture installation just past the Sherman Way exit. It has recently been restored and reinstalled.
This fall, City Planning will host Planning 101 training sessions focusing on the topics of project and community planning. The annual Planning 101 series provides a general overview of the core functions of planning in Los Angeles and serves as an educational resource for anyone interested in learning more about participation in the land use process, especially residents, newly elected neighborhood council board members, and members of other community-based organizations.
In keeping with Mayor Eric Garcetti’s Safer at Home Order, this year’s training will be offered virtually to minimize and stop the spread of COVID-19. Attendees will be able to join by telephone or remotely, through GoTo video conferencing software.

The Project Planning training will highlight how projects are reviewed and walk attendees through each step of the development review process―beginning with the submission of a project application at the public counter and ending with the approval of a building permit.

Construction begins for two projects the week of September 21. The projects are to capture stormwater, clean the runoff to prevent trash from going to the ocean and to replenish our underground aquifers and may have a benefit of reduced flooding. The projects are focused on Victory to Vanowen east of Laurel Canyon and Vanowen to Hart also east of Laurel Canyon.
96 Pallet Shelter Housing units approved for Alexandria Park adjacent to the 170 south of Victory. A similar project was approved for the north end of the North Hollywood Park and is being proposed for Saticoy and Whitsett.
