38% decrease in makeshift shelters

Today’s Point-in-Time Count results show progress as the City of Los Angeles confronts the homelessness crisis with urgency.

Key results from the 2024 Greater Los Angeles Homeless Count:

  • Promises made, promises delivered
  • For YEARS the count has gone up. We’ve changed the status quo and the count is going down for the first time in years
  • People are moving off the streets. Street homelessness in Los Angeles has decreased by 10% – an unprecedented amount
  • The amount of people in shelters has increased by 17%. That means that more people are moving indoors.
  • The amount of makeshift shelters, cars, vans and tents have decreased overall.
  • More Angelenos are moving into PERMANENT housing than ever before.
