Hosted by the North Hollywood Northeast Neighborhood Council (NHNENC) in partnership with EmpowerLA, LA Sanitation and Environment, Los Angeles Public Library, the Sun Valley Area Neighborhood Council, and NERI, the workshop helped kick off LA 311 Week with a focus on civic engagement and community action.
MLK Day is not just a day off. It is a national day on — a call to action rooted in service and solidarity. Through clean-up efforts, creative expression, and resource-sharing, North Hollywood residents demonstrated what it means to live Dr. King’s values locally. Thank you to every volunteer, partner, and neighbor who showed up with heart and purpose. Together, we continue building a cleaner, stronger, and more connected community.
Another great event! We had a large turnout, so we split into four directions and sent two groups to drive to their locations. We had 31 volunteer and got 71 bags off our streets. We’re looking forward to our next event, the Martin Luther King Jr. Cleanup, on Monday, January 19.
Our NoHo community rolled up their sleeves November 8 and transformed this area one bag at a time. What started as trash-filled corners became clean and welcoming streets in just a couple of hours. Thank you to everyone who showed up and helped create real change. A special thank you to LA City Sanitation for their partnership and coordination in collecting all trash within 24 hours.

As President of the North Hollywood Northeast Neighborhood Council, I’m proud to present this Year in Review Report summarizing our work, progress, and challenges from July 2024 to June 2025. Join us Sunday, March 9 to learn to use the MyLA311 App, meet your NHNENC board members and Council District 6 Staff, enjoy refreshments, and walk our community to put the app to work!
Our council hit the streets with our community to pick up trash and put in 311 requests for bulky items. Thanks to everyone who volunteered their morning to make our community just that much cleaner!

At the Groundbreaking Ceremony, remarks were given by Councilmember Paul Krekorian, Department of Recreation and Parks Assistant General Manager Catherine Domingo, LAPD Officers from the North Hollywood and Foothill Division, and our Board President Zaid Diaz-Arias. Below are some comments given by President Diaz-Arias:
“Good morning, everyone! It’s a pleasure to be here as we celebrate the grand opening of Keswick Pocket Park in North Hollywood.
As President of the North Hollywood Northeast Neighborhood Council, I’m proud to represent our community on this special day. Today, we’re celebrating more than just a new park—we’re celebrating the commitment and dedication of our Councilmember and the incredible team at Council District 2. Their unwavering efforts to bring more green space to our ‘park-poor’ community have made this moment possible.
The vision for this park began before 2016, and a formal motion was approved by City Council in April 2020. Despite delays caused by the pandemic, CD2 never wavered in their mission to transform this once-unused city property into a vibrant space for everyone to enjoy. Just under a year ago, the Mayor approved the land transfer to the Department of Recreation and Parks, and today, we’re seeing that vision come to life.
Keswick Pocket Park is more than just a park; it’s a new place for families to gather, friends to connect, and our community to thrive. This space represents resilience, dedication, and the power of community-driven change.
Thank you to everyone who helped bring this project to completion. Here’s to many years of joy and connection at Keswick Pocket Park. Thank you!”
