Registration is now open for eligible homeowners to apply for the Earthquake Brace and Bolt program, a seismic retrofit grant program
This year, the program, established by the California Residential Mitigation Program — a joint powers authority formed by the California Earthquake Authority and the Governor’s Office of Emergency Services — is expanding eligibility to 17 additional California cities in high hazard areas, including Valley Village, Sunland and other areas in Los Angeles. The California Earthquake Authority has provided $6 million in funding for the grants this year.
Homeowners may be eligible to receive grants of up to $3,000 for seismic retrofits of their older homes, making them more resistant to earthquake damage. Homeowners have until Feb. 23 to apply for a grant.
