Update: Postponed for lack of funding

Everyone deserves safe streets, but if cars are speeding on your residential street, you can apply for a speed hump to be installed. Before applying, please be aware that completing a speed hump request involves multiple steps of engagement and technical review. You should also know that due to LADOT’s limited budget, we can only construct a limited number of speed humps citywide. LADOT prioritizes requests based on technical feasibility and need.

While speed humps can assist in reducing street speed, they can also increase noise and damage to vehicles.

The Speed Hump Program opens up a review cycle every 6 months to take petitions for speed humps. The next speed hump application window will open Wednesday, September 16, 2020 at 8 a.m. PST. The application will close when 450 applications (30 in each council office) have been submitted. This number allows our limited staff to study all the applications in a “batch” and build in a “batch” as efficiently as possible. Thank you for your patience and understanding!
