Money Moves: Youth Financial Empowerment Workshop

Los Angeles, CA (June 11, 2018) – In an effort to highlight the importance of financial education in schools, the North Hollywood North East Neighborhood Council (NHNENC) has partnered with Wells Fargo and the Youth Policy Institute to host “Money Moves: Youth Financial Empowerment,” an event to build financial literacy amongst teens and tweens on Saturday, June 16th from 11am to 4pm at Valley Plaza Recreation Center 12240 Archwood St, North Hollywood, CA 91606.
Following the success of the NHNENC’s 1st Youth Empowerment Series session “Rise Above Adversity,” with Marvel Rising: Secret Warriors actor Kamil McFadden and world renowned motivational speaker Billionaire P.A., this event is highly anticipated within the North Hollywood community. This workshop is an opportunity for registered students ages 13-17, and their parents to engage in a financial discussion and to learn personal financial literacy concepts.
“We are extremely excited to host the second session of the Youth Empowerment Series for the students in our community and provide them with tools that will help them build a solid foundation for their financial futures,” said SheRise Ford, NHNENC Youth Empowerment Committee – Chairman. “Our goal is to help jump-start the conversation on financial literacy. We must reach our youth while they’re still developing their financial habits, so they’ll grow into healthy habits.”
Supported by Real 92.3FM, Wells Fargo, the Youth Policy Institute, Upward Bound, City of Los Angeles Department of Recreation and Parks, and the offices of Councilmember Krekorian and Mayor Garcetti, the second session of the NHNENC Youth Empowerment Series “Money Moves: Youth Financial Empowerment,” will feature leading industry professionals that will take part in Q&A sessions and informative discussions on a variety of topics including how to open a teen checking account and save money, the importance of good credit, job opportunities available for youth, plus much more.
