Metro Orange Line Open House

June 25, 2018 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

NORTH HOLLYWOOD – Metro is hosting a community meeting in Council District 2 to tell you about upcoming Orange Line operating speeds, capacity and safety improvements.

Monday, June 25
Open House from 6 pm to 8 pm
North Hollywood Recreation Center – Senior Building
11430 Chandler Blvd.
North Hollywood, CA 91601
Last year, the Metro board voted for a plan to improve the Orange Line, the system’s most popular bus rapid transit line. The board approved recommendations to begin a formal environmental study of railroad-style crossing gates throughout the line and at grade separations along the 18-mile San Fernando Valley corridor. The project also recommends building a new one-mile long bridge between Sepulveda and Van Nuys boulevards. In total, the project is slated to improve bus travel speeds and will help prepare the Orange Line for future conversion to light rail.
As of now, Metro has completed a technical study that evaluated grade separations on major streets, minor street closures, better signal priority technology, electronic bus connectivity and a four-quadrant gating system. Metro is also working with LADOT to implement a pilot installation of railroad gates at a non-public, traffic signal-controlled intersection on the Orange Line.
The improvements were championed by Councilmember Krekorian and are part of the scope of Measure M projects slated for the San Fernando Valley.
If you can’t attend the meeting in person, join via live webcast at tinyurl.com/metroorangeline. The live webcast presentation begins at 6:30 pm.
