Ernie Moscoso and Pricipal Olortegui speak at the Julie Korenstein Ribbon Cutting

NHNE Council board members welcomed the dedication and ribbon-cutting of the Julie Korenstein Elementary School at 7650 Ben Avenue. Opened as Valley Regional Elementary School #7 this fall, the school was named in honor of former LAUSD Board Member Julie Korenstein. The ribbon-cutting was held at 10AM on November 18, 2010 and included speeches, refreshments, and songs from the children in English, Spanish, and Armenian. JKE joins Strathern, Arminta, and Camellia to become the 4th elementary school in our Neighborhood Council. Principal Brenda Olortegui thanked the Neighborhood Council for it's support of the ceremony and for our ongoing support of our local schools. President Ernie Moscoso spoke at the event and presented a banner showing our involvement with the new school.
